Performance Management

Organisations in today’s tough economic climate are looking to more effectively manage the people resource either through a formal appraisal system or a set of tools and techniques which enable managers to manage performance at an individual level. biz-ability offers programmes that are tailored around the existing company performance management systems to those who conduct the process as well as to those on the receiving end. This ensures a more transparent exchange of views in performance discussions and enables both parties to use these meetings in a productive, solution focused manner. Where appraisal systems do not exist or are in need of revision, biz-ability can also work with the organisation to develop appropriate processes and then conduct training to aid successful implementation.

Participant profile

Appraisers’ workshops are aimed at managers or supervisors who are responsible for conducting performance appraisal or performance management meetings with staff. It is helpful if those who attend have a basic understanding of leadership and motivation. Appraisees’ workshops are aimed at those on the receiving end of such discussions to help them prepare for and to get the best out of the meeting. These are aimed at all levels of staff who are able to understand, read and write English or Arabic.

Each of the elements from the Leadership Journey can be run as targeted programmes however we strongly recommend the journey process to ensure sustainable change and implementation. In addition to the comprehensive Leadership Journey we provide a range of targeted leadership training programmes.

Foundation Leadership Programme

Often new and existing managers or supervisors in a company do not receive training when they are promoted and they therefore find themselves having to learn on the job. This programme will help them to build confidence and knowledge in a structured way for all people management elements. It will also help them to identify what they are already doing well from the 'on the job' learning and what they need to further develop. The programme can be flexibly designed around the needs of the participants thus ensuring they come away with a solid foundation to managing people.

Participant Profile

This programme works well for new managers or supervisors or even those who have been in their role for a while but feel a need to build their confidence when managing others.

Influencing Up

In the diverse cultures of the Middle East, mastering the skills and techniques of influencing others is critical to a leader’s success. Often confused with negotiation skills which is a different challenge, our Leadership Influencing programme provides practical tools, techniques and processes for convincing and persuading senior management. The steps also train leaders to fully gather all facts and evidence, play devils advocate, consider consequences, modify their pitch to suit the differing styles of management. The result - comprehensive well thought ideas, with evidence and statistics to back it up. This programme is tailored to meet the organisation’s needs and culture with live case studies used to accelerate implementation in the workplace.

Participant Profile

This programme is designed for Leaders and Managers who have a good understanding of all management skills. This programme requires participants to understand Emotional Intelligence (see ILM Leadership Journey Stage Two), and motivation skills, plus possess reasonable presentation skills. If required all the above can be tailored into a four day programme to ensure Influencing Up works!

Top Grading

Top Grading is a concept developed by Brad and Geoff Smart, two reputed consultants who have actively researched how to more effectively choose A Players for organisations. In today’s market where attracting and retaining the best resources is key to all organisations’ success learning how to pick the best people has got to be a must. biz-ability’s two day Top Grading programme shares the Top Grading methodology from how to prepare a scorecard to measure competencies in an interview and the structure of the different types of interview comprising the Top Grading process.

Participant Profile

This programme is aimed at those who make selection decisions for organisations whether they are in a corporate human resources roles or in a line manager role of a large department or function. It is helpful if they have had experience of interviewing and have the basic knowledge of questioning techniques to build upon however it is not essential.

Train the Trainer

With organisations carefully protecting their expenditure and finding ways to reduce costs often they turn to internal resources to roll out necessary training, especially in the technical or product training areas. For those who are assigned this responsibility internally, the Train the Trainer programme will focus on the learning they need to succeed in this challenging role.  It provides a thorough understanding of the concepts of learning and how people learn and provides the tools and techniques that enable individuals to put together their own training sessions. It also helps build training and facilitation skills by using a blend of learning with intermittent video recorded practice sessions to help participants to see what areas they need to focus on.

Participant Profile

Existing corporate trainers can always benefit from a Train the Trainer programme to brush up their skills and learn new techniques. Additionally those who are given training responsibility in an organisation as part of their role especially benefit from the Train the Trainer programme.
